THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
Lydford Gorge is a marvellous nature reserve at the western edge of Dartmoor. At one end of the Gorge, near the visitor centre, the water has scooped out a rounded hollow where the river swirls in fascinating patterns. This hollow is known as the Devil's Cauldron. To access the cauldron you have to walk out on a metal mesh walkway, with the water rushing underneath you. The metal mesh did present some problems for setting up my tripod, but I managed to jam the legs into a corner of the walkway and get this photo.
