THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
Ardtoe is a small village (well, actually its more of a hamlet; just a few scattered houses and a small beach), located at the end of a long neck of land at the northern entrance to Kentra Bay, Moidart. There's a small parking area with an honesty box, near the beach. When I say the beach was small, I mean small. I took some photos from the beach, but nothing really got me excited, so I thought I'd try to follow a very uncertain trail to the rocky shoe that embraced the beach like the horns of a bull. I jumped from rock to rock until I came to the very edge of the water. There I found a small area where I could photograph the waves rushing in and out, across a small series of jagged rocks in the foreground. This photo is one of a couple dozen I took as the sun went down, trying to capture the ebb and flow of the waves at my feet. Without the rough water in the foreground this would be a far less interesting photo to me.
