THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
I'm quite proud of this image (well, I'd better be if I'm offering it for sale!). The reason I'm proud of it is that it took repeated visits to Bow Fiddle Rock to get this gorgeous evening light on the arch. One of the biggest lessons I have learned in photography over the years is that persistence pays off. And it certainly is gratifying when it does! I wasn't even going to visit the Rock on this evening; I'd had a long day touring Moray and Aberdeenshire, but as it drew close to evening I asked myself what I really, really wanted to do. The answer was clear; I was drawn to Bow Fiddle Rock, and I was determined to capture some of the beauty of the place before I left Moray! I drove about 90 minutes to reach Portknockie just before the sun set. I waited, and waited, and then, just before the sun set entirely, the western sky cleared and sent golden light to cast this glorious glow on the sea arch. Oh, my!
