THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
I was visiting Craig y Nos Castle with my family on a dull autumn day in late October. I had never been to the castle before, and had no idea what to expect. I hadn't realised that its major function was a hotel, not a 'castle' in the purest sense. We did enjoy a quick look at the little opera house built by former owner Adelina Patti, and a very nice walk through the woodlands below the house. As we were heading back to the car park we passed a beautiful pond near the castle, where the autumn colours cast glorious reflections on the surface of the water. I think it looks like a French Impressionist painting, something Monet would have enjoyed.
