THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH

I came to Criccieth specifically to photograph the castle, perched on a rocky headland high above the bay. I arrived well before dawn, and waited in the cold while the sun slowly rose. To be honest I was a little disappointed, as I had hoped for a golden glow of dawn light on the castle, but the eastern sky had other ideas. Clouds scudded across the sky, and a brief shower ensued. Just as I was about to give up and walk back up the beach to my car, the sky cleared again and a small rainbow appeared over the castle. Wow!
